Things I Know — Choosing A Christmas Tree Theme

This is what I know this week in regards to Christmas…. 37 Days today and Counting!

As you know, myself and Tina from Tina Gray{dot) me are doing weekly blog posts about 100 Days to Christmas, so be sure to check them out! I’m linking up again this week with Shae from Yay for Home!

I love this time of year, Christmas is getting closer, all the shop catalogues are out showing beautiful Christmas trees and its time to decide if this year your tree with have a Christmas theme!

I know that personally our tree has a theme…. baubles, tinsel and lots of them!!

Christmas Tree 2010

We have decorations on there that the kids have made, special ones that they get to add to it each year and special ones that hubby had when he was younger.

So this year we are going to go with our gold/colour theme again but the kids are getting their own little tree in the playroom which they will be able to have their own little decorations on!

I know that I would love to have my tree looking like this one year!

I always love the decorations that Target Australia release and this year would have to be my favourite! My girls love pink and  purple and my boys love blue and green so this looks like such a great colour combination!

For the more traditionalist there is the beautiful Red/Gold colour combination

Maybe even a touch of pastel?

Or even funky retro colours!

I know that whatever your Christmas style, as long as love has been put into putting it up, its going to look gorgeous!

If you have already put your Christmas Tree up for this year, I would love for you to post a picture of it on my Facebook Page! I love being inspired!

I know that this coming Saturday is hubby’s and my 6th wedding anniversary so the kids are going for a sleepover to a friends and my sisters place and after Athletics tonight, our Christmas tree is coming out!! Ooh yeah baby!! I was finally able to convince hubby and we are putting it up as a surprise for the kids when they get home on Saturday afternoon!!

  2. Hehe, I got very excited at the kids this morning about it almost being December 1st and therefore almost Christmas tree time! And our first Advent calendar, from Oxfam last year in the sales. Squee!

  3. Kirsty -that last ‘funky’ looks like an accident waiting to happen….me thinks it would stay standing all about 30 minutes in our house!

I love adding special decorations each year and agree Target do great ones…in fact, I would say Target does everything great!

    Thanks for more christmas inspiration!

  4. We don’t even have a tree this year! Disgraceful, I know.
I’m hoping to convince the Irishman to get a real tree, just this year and we can buy a new one cheap in the post Xmas sales. Wish me luck!

  6. How exciting to get the tree up, I think ours is scheduled for next weekend. This one is for the outside lights, which is also pretty exciting :)

Happy anniversary as well, may there be many more to come and may the years ahead be filled with fairy wishes and butterfly kisses

  7. Yep, I think I’ve done all of those themes…except the funky retro one. How cute is that one??

My kids have their mini trees up in their rooms already.
I’m still being patient and trying to wait until December…however I think I’ll put it up as soon as school is finished…2 WEEKS AWAY!!

And this year I’m thinking ‘wings & bling’…angels, fairies, birds for wings….and anything that shimmers, sparkles, glistens for bling.

  8. We’re up for a new tree and trimmings this year. Must get onto that. Usually, our tree is a mixture of traditional and the kids’ school-made decorations. So cute – I definitely won’t be parting with those.

  10. Wow ! Those Christmas trees all look amazing ! Ours is just a simple one from Target but it’s amazing how it doesn’t take much for those little lights to make things seem special and Christmasy :)
    Happy Wedding Anniversary !

  11. My fave tree was a weird thing we liberated from my IL’s block a few years ago. It had so much character! We have a standard plastic one now with lots of blue and silver

  12. This is so timely for me as I was underwhelmed with my Christmas tree decorating effort last year! This year, I am going to them it properly and it’s going to look HAWT!!!

  13. Our tree just a bit of everything, I don’t bother with themes, it would just add stress that I don’t need. So were the kids excited?
