Explore! Rescue! Protect!!

You know how there is always just ONE DVD that is on constant rotation in your household. Normally its Dora, Diego, Mister Maker or Hi-5.

However this month there has been a NEW addition to the DVD rotation!

Enter the Ocotonauts

Ever since we have been sent this DVD to review, my kids have fallen in love with Captain Barnacles, Kwazii Kitten, Peso Penguin & Dashi Dog who make up the Octonauts Team!

Octonauts follows a team of underwater heroes who dive into action to save and rescue animals whenever they are in need. With a fleet of aquatic vehicles, they experience and explore the depths of the oceans while entertaining children.

Since airing in January, Octonauts has become one of ABC1 highest rating shows and I can see why. With catchy tunes and vibrant graphics, Octonauts makes for entertaining viewing. Even my husband and I have sat down and enjoyed watching it!

What I love about Octonauts as a parent is that its not just a cartoon, it actually makes your child interact and encourages your child to get creative and make their imagination active through vibrant animated underwater worlds.

The main characters of Octonauts are loveable characters and promote the importance of teamwork with each of the characters working together to solve the adventures.

Captain Barnacles

Kwazii Kitten

Dashi Dog

Peso Penguin

This DVD has saved me on many occasions, when the kids get grumpy in the car, or when we lost power in a storm and they want to watch it on my laptop, they get totally engrossed in the characters and songs that they forget why they were grumpy! Bonus in my eyes!!

Thanks to the team at Roadshow Entertainment, Octonauts and the Mummy To Five kids, I have two DVD’s to giveaway to my readers! Its all about sharing the love, and it makes a great present for Christmas!

To enter all you have to do is answer this question…

If you could be an underwater creature who would you be?!

The most creative answer will win, as chosen by the Mummy To Five kids! So be creative!!

Competition Ends 14th November.

  3. T would be,
If I lived under the sea,

  4. I had no idea you could get this on DVD! Sam loves (or loved) this show before he started back at daycare. It was the only thing he would watch on television before we got rid of Foxtel.

Ok. If I were an underwater creature. I love the idea of just gliding through the water, effortless. So a huge (oh…see, I can’t even be small in pretend… ;-) ) manta ray or something like that. Something about the way they move through the water just gets me.

Odd. My favourite underwater creature is a sea turtle. Why didn’t I pick that? My thought was immediately a ray.

  6. My kids love Octonauts!!

I would want to be a jellyfish – I always stare at them for ages at aquariums – beautiful, floaty, glowing creatures. They seem so laid back floating along… (and I so need to chill out!)

  7. How cute are those little characters. If I was an underwater creature I would be Mummy Octopus. I feel like I need 8 arms to get all the things done that motherhood demands.

  8. I would be a seahorse. Because for starters I’m not likely to get caught and have someone eat me, but more than that, I would never have to be pregnant! My husband would have the babies for me and I could just enjoy swimming around the ocean, hiding in some coral, being cool, cause seahorses are so cool.

  9. I’d be a shark. They are amazing creatures and I think I’d like to be as close to the top of the food chain as possible!!

  10. Big Octonauts fans here!

I would be a dolphin because they have a lot of fun surfing and laughing with their friends!

  11. I would be the Megamouth Shark. Why? Well it’s very unusual, extremely rare, and has an ENORMOUS mouth…so… basically it’s me, but in sea creature form!! :)

  12. Oh my 4 & 2 yr olds just love Octonauts (they were standing around the octonauts dvd’s at coles the other day saying “that would be really good to buy wouldn’t it mum”… not very subtle hehe.

I’d be a creature with the mystery of the lochness monster, the playfulness, speed & intelligence of the dolphin, the relaxed nature of the sea turtle, the elegance of the sea horse, the ability to swim while sleeping like the spiny dogfish shark and the life span & emotional capacity of a whale!

  13. asked my daughter (3) what underwater creature she would like to be, she replied a starfish, might just be an indication of how lazy she is though ;)

  14. I would be a seahorse they are so unusal and beautiful and the boys carry the babies.

  15. An octopus is what I’d be,
If I were to dwell beneath the sea,
A set of arms for all my three,
And a pair left over – Just for ME!

Hahaha! then all I’d need to do was fix up the little problem of more hours in the day!!!

  16. An octopus is what I’d be,
If I lived deep in the sea.
With 8 arms my main features,
    I could tickle ferocious creatures.
    Then hide far, far away,
Before I became their tea for the day!
I’d relax as my chores are done quickly,
And eat lots of chocolate until I felt sickly!

  17. I’d be an Oyster because they can be a bit rough around the edges on the outside but once they open up you just might find a hidden beauty on the inside!

  18. I would make my husband be the Seahorse, then he would know what it was like to carry a big fat baby past your due date!

  19. I would be a whale, because if you got on my nerves or in my way, I’d just open my mouth and gobble you up.

  20. I would love to be a narwhal – the unicorn of the sea! I didn’t know what these fascinating creatures were until I saw them on a doco last week. The next morning I was explaining to my two boys about this underwater unicorn that I had just learnt about and one of them replied “we know all about them, they are narwhals and we have seen them on the Octonauts”! Don’t they just know everything!!!

  21. A baby seal…….
So cute with my dark shiny eyes,
So warm with my fluffy white fur,
So cuddly with my Mummy I am,
So lucky to be in water and on land,
    A baby seal……So lucky I am.
    (Written with help from Archie,4)

  22. A blue whale’s life for me,
    so magestic and gentle,
no known predators so it’s all free,
to roam the ocean, alive and carefree

  23. Never seen the octonauts but if I was a under water creature I would chose mermaid.

  24. I think I would be a dugong! They seem so sweet and lovely x

  25. A gorgeous little sea horse,
So Im not a main course.
    Im truely unique,
    And very mystique.
    I eat all the time,
    And my weights sublime.
Im the size of a small tea cup,
But the sight of me cheers you up!

  26. My son loves the Octonauts – a crab because it can also go on land

  27. A squid. I mean, that way I’d never run out of ink to write to my family above the sea! And who doesn’t want to have ten tentacles! I have my two arms right now, and they aren’t even enough to juggle everything in life!

  28. My boys love the Octonauts!

I would be a tropical fish if I could, so bright and happy looking.

  29. My kids LOVE the Octonauts, and would just love this DVD…means we could watch it whenever, wherever!

I’d love to be a clown fish
    So colourful and free
Swimming with all my other friends
    Underneath the sea
And although I have to hide from..
    sharks, killer whales and rays
I would be free to explore the ocean
    On every single day!

  30. I would love to be a manta ray – they are so graceful under the water. (And apparently incredibly bigger than I thought when I was a child)

  31. Such a great show!!! I’d be a weedy sea dragon so I could blend in to the surrounds when I wanted a bit of time to myself.

  32. I think these are the cutest little animals and my 7 month old daughter loves watching them on TV.

  33. I’m with Narelle Rock….
A “Seahorse” because I LOVE the idea that the male carries the young.
Oh we do love our men though!!

  34. My son would love to be
    under the sea
    With Captain Barnacle B
    Cos he takes charge

    He’d let him in
    To the gupp e
    and solve all the mysteries
    under the sea

  35. Peso Penguin looks so proper,
    In his long black tails,
Stiff white shirt, and neatly grommed,
    Correct in all details.
He’s so important, chest way out,
    As he pitters patters by,
But here is something very funny–
    He forgot his TIE!

  36. My 2 girls love the octonauts.
I’d say Id have to be a turtle, coz they’re just so cool! And when I take the girls fishing it’s all they want me to catch :D
