What a busy weekend we have just had, with the first birthday party for Harry, with a Disney UP style theme!
Over the weekend there were more than 40 people in our house, over 500 photos taken, over 100 balloons covering our ceiling, 24 cupcakes consumed, 15 litres of cordial consumes, 2 quiches, 1 birthday cake and a happy boy having it celebrated all for him!
With that many photos taken, I’ve decided to break the posts down into three different sections — decorations, food and people.
Today is all about the decorations!
Naturally with it being a UP theme, the main focus of the decorations were going to be balloons. So while I was at Spotlight last week I booked a helium tank which would do 100 balloons.
So while I was prepping all the food, Stuart and Tanya (family friend) were blowing up all the balloons. They decided to not fill the balloons up as much as normal so that we could get more! And more balloons we did!!
There was over 250 balloons once they finished! Not a bad effort!
As you can see, we had a lot of balloons, we had balloons out on the front letterbox, we had them as you came up the entry to the door and then this on the front door….
I made a balloon wreath!! I couldn’t even begin to tell you how many balloons I ended up using, there are normal and water balloon size on that wreath! I originally saw the idea on HowDoesShe and thought I could do that!
Let me tell you this though…. it takes a lot longer that you would think! I had to get sequin pins from Spotlight because they didn’t have greening pins like told to use from HowDoesShe so it took ages to pin, and they kept coming out again cause they were only little. I even split the tip of my thumb from pinning all those pins into the wreath! Was totally worth it though!
Then as you walked in the front door, there were the characters from UP
I was really lucky to borrow these from a lady and her daughter on Facebook especially for the party!! I also created the Welcome Sign using a background that I found online. The blue frames I already had from Ikea
I also printed some photos of Harry that I had taken the previous week on his actual birthday!
I downloaded from the internet all these UP themed background which I laminated and put up all over the walls in the house.
We also decorated Harry’s highchair so that when he ate it would be all cool!
The balloon attached to it, was huge and a big hit with all the kids!
Outside we had borrowed a friends gazebo so it took up a good part of the backyard to provide shade and place to put all the food!
Be sure to check back tomorrow, when I show you all the food I served, along with all the recipes (which I’m going to have as downloadable pdf’s!)
