Wonderful World of WAHP Wednesday’s

So remember how yesterday I mentioned how I would be kicking off this new feature today, well here it is!! It’s coming to you a little late tonight as I’ve just spent the past few hours sewing on some fireman’s patches onto my son’s shirt for tomorrow, as its Queensland Heroes Day at school.

As you can see, I’m not the worlds best sew-er. I did however only stab myself with the needle 10 times, so not bad! An no blood! Would hate to have to wash the shirt as well tonight before bed!!

So todays WAHM feature kind of ties in perfectly as she’s an AMAZING sew-er! Amanda from LA Crafts is my very first feature on my blog and I’m so ultra excited! I first came across Amanda on Facebook, and she was the first lady that I actually bought hand made dresses from and to date I’ve bought a total of 7 dresses from Amanda and each and everyone of them are GORGEOUS!

Here is one of my favourites that I got at Christmas time for Miss Makayla

Meet Amanda from LA Crafts

Q1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and why you started your business.
I am a stay at home mum to Sophie, 2 ½. I live in rural South Australia in a community surrounded by a gorgeous river, vineyards and a nice relaxed atmosphere. I started my business after my daughter was born and I wanted unique pieces of clothing and accessories for her and not the commercial items that are around every where.

Q2. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I started making a few things for Sophie, more and more family and friends kept asking for them and then someone suggested I started selling, so I guess you could say it wasn’t my idea but I am happy I had the encouragement from family and friends to push me in this direction.

Q3. What’s your inspiration to keep going?
My inspiration is definitely my daughter and my range seems to grow with the things I find I need for her but the gorgeous fabrics I am surrounded by daily are another inspiration.

Q4. How do you maintain your work/family balance?
I treat La Crafts like I would treat a normal job and allocate certain amounts of time to things I need to do that day.

Q5. What are your future plans for your business?
I want La Crafts to be a one stop shop for expecting mothers & new parents, I also want to offer affordable clothing and accessories of a difference for the mums and dads of Australia. I want them to come to La Crafts when they need an outfit for a special occasion, a present for new parents or a present for a birthday party on the weekend. I would love to expand and support other WAHP.

Q6. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 Years I hope to be a well established Online Business selling Childrens clothing and accessories through out Australia!

Q7. Do you have a Facebook, Website, Blog or Twitter page?
LA Crafts on Facebook — http://www.facebook.com/Lacraftstore
Website — www.lacrafts.com.au
Blog — www.thesewingsisterhood.blogspot.com

Q8. What are some of the products you sell and can you show us your favourite three?
I sell boys and girls clothing, accessories for babies as well as for new mums as well.
My Favorite three products would have to be the Waterproof car seat mat, Travel Matchbox Car Pouch and ruffled Nappy Covers.

  1. Firman outfit looks fab to me! Certainly beats my school dress up outfit of lampshade and extension cord, I guess I didn’t have too many lights on…

Love the ruffle butt nappy cover, gorgeous!
